Speech essay example: Concept evaluation

Concept Evaluation
By Brett McClelland
My first concept has a large area for a water feature but may not have enough seating room. The sharp edges of the seating and garden areas may not be very safe. It is fairly low maintenance but the gravel between the paving

stones may need to be swept occasionally as children tend to throw or kick it around. I think it does fit in with the existing environment. I think it is fashionable and stylish with the paving stones and rounded water feature area. The balance is formal in shape. Materials used are concrete, wood, limestone, soil and gravel. The cost of the limestone seating may be quite expensive.
My second concept has a circular area for a water feature and has more than enough seating. It should be safe as there are not really any sharp edges and the water feature will not be deep. It will be low maintenance but that also depends on what sort of plants I use. It fits in with the existing environment. It is stylish and fashionable. It has good curving shapes and the balance is informal. Materials used are concrete paving stones, and wood for the planter edges. And finally it looks like it would be expensive to build.
My third concept is quite complicated and is more like a cottage style landscape which would probably need to be maintained well. It has an area for a water feature and plenty of seating. I think it is safe as it has no sharp edges and the water feature will not be deep. As it is cottage style it may not fit in with the existing environment. I like the shape of the boundary of the garden. Materials used are gravel, wood and concrete. It looks like it may cost a lot. The balance is informal.
My fourth concept has a large area for a water feature but may not have enough room for seating. The sharp edges of the water feature and garden may not be too safe. I think it will be quite low maintenance and will fit in with the existing environment. I think the paving stones make it look stylish but they might look better if they were smaller.
Materials used are concrete, wood and soil. Apart from the water feature it shouldn’t be too expensive to build. The balance is informal.
